The Department of History is currently accepting applications for a part time, Fixed-Term Assistant Professor for the upcoming Summer 2019-second session at Michigan State University on an Annual Year (AN) basis. The duty period for this position is July 1, 2019 through August 15, 2019. This part-time teaching position will include teaching the online version of the course, HST 203--- U.S. History since 1876. This is a four credit survey course that covers major topics and themes in U.S. history from 1876 to the present including such topics as political development, social change, women’s history, race and ethnicity.
A Ph.D. in the field of Modern U.S. History is strongly preferred; instructional experience teaching a large online class is strongly preferred. Duties: Main responsibility includes teaching HST 203 as an online course for the Summer 2019, second session. This includes lesson planning and preparation, lecturing, multimedia presentation, grading, engaging with students virtually as needed, course assessment, and working closely with both the undergraduate and graduate directors to ensure course quality, if necessary.
Doctorate -Modern US History
• Ph.D. in History with focus in Modern U.S. History • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Experience designing and teaching online classes at the undergraduate level
