Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in many aspects of the study and in general lab management, including maintaining ethical protocols, recruiting and scheduling participants, collecting, organizing, and analyzing study data. The research technologist will also have the opportunity to prepare scientific results for publication and presentation. There will be ample opportunity to learn novel methods in functional neuroimaging, vision science, and clinical science; accordingly, this position should be viewed as a stepping stone toward gaining entry into graduate or professional school. Individuals interested in the biological basis of mental disorders, neuropsychology and/or neuroscience, and neuroimaging are especially encouraged to apply. The position requires a high level of interpersonal skills, organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or other related field; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in basic research techniques in the specific or related field; word processing, spreadsheet; database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation software; experience with statistical software and in conducting human subject research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, interpersonal skills and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, or related discipline. Experience in a clinical research setting is highly desirable; experience with statistical software and in conducting human subject research. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and capable of working independently. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is preferred. Experience using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and MATLAB is preferred.
