The MOSourceLink communications coordinator position at the UMKC Innovation Center is an exciting opportunity for a creative, motivated and analytic community builder and content marketer to help advance entrepreneurship across the state of Missouri.
Using the KCSourceLink model as a starting point, this position will work closely with the marketing director in the day-to-day implementation and optimization of MOSourceLink's content marketing strategy: reaching new entrepreneurs through traditional and innovative marketing strategies while telling the story of Missouri entrepreneurs and their impact across the state. This person will leverage and expand their social media and community building experience as well as their strong storytelling skills to connect Missouri entrepreneurs to the resources they need and fulfill the vision of making Missouri the state for innovation between the coasts.
MOSourceLink and KCSourceLink connect thousands of entrepreneurs a year to the resources they need to start and grow businesses through a hotline, website and a network of entrepreneurial service. The communications coordinator will work with all of the departments in the UMKC Innovation Center to tell the story of Missouri entrepreneurship and to engage entrepreneurs, partners, media, funders and stakeholders.
Distribution of Duties 50% Copywriting and Content Marketing 30% Social Media Marketing 20% Project Management and Coordination
Work with the marketing director to implement and optimize a statewide content marketing plan that educates and inspires Missouri entrepreneurs and shows the impact of Missouri entrepreneurship.
Build relationships with and between Missouri's entrepreneurial service organizations.
Write and manage content daily toward that content marketing strategy, to include inbound (blog posts, website content, online guides, social media posts, video scripts, infographics) and outbound marketing tactics (newsletter, presentation decks, email marketing campaigns, brochures, annual reports).
Work with marketing director to develop editorial calendar, monitor news and trends for editorial opportunities, develop innovative marketing tactics and execute content marketing campaigns that engage entrepreneurs in rural and urban communities in Missouri.
Manage assigned social media accounts and track inquiries in client relationship management software.
Provide input in strategic planning.
Coordinate media pitches, monitor media mentions and keep press contact list updated.
Ensure assigned projects follow approved plans and meet deadlines, notifying marketing director well enough in advance if corrections need to be made.
Proofread copy, artwork, and proofs.
Expand expertise and efficiency in role with regular professional development; cross train other members of the marketing team.
Attend all departmental meetings and required trainings.
Travel, as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
