The University of Washington, Department of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics & Hospital Medicine invites applications for a full time open rank faculty position on the clinician-educator pathway.
This open rank faculty position would be for an academic appointment as an Assistant Professor WOT, Associate Professor WOT, or Professor WOT. Academic rank at the time of appointment is commensurate with experience and qualifications. There will be opportunities for the successfulcandidate to develop an area of scholarly activity that complements the clinical work proposed.
This is a 12-month service period position with an anticipated start date of August 2019.
The successful applicant will work in an outpatient pediatric teaching practice at a hospital-based academic teaching center and will develop and maintain a practice of general pediatric patients, as well as a subset of children drawn from a population who have experienced adverse events such as prenatal exposures or complex trauma. Many of these latter children will be have histories of child welfare involvement or international adoption and may have behavioral health concerns or developmental disabilities. Clinical work in the fetal alcohol spectrum diagnostic clinic is also available.
While the majority of time at this site will be in the provision of direct patient care, there will also be opportunities to participate in medical student or resident supervision. In that role, the candidate's responsibilities will include clinical supervision, teaching, evaluation, and feedback.
All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
The successful candidate will have earned an MD (or foreign equivalent) and be board certified/board eligible in Pediatrics.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
The successful candidate will need to have completed a fellowship in General Academic Pediatrics.
