The Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Department of the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) invites applications for the full time faculty position (without tenure due to funding) of Pathologist, with emphasis on Gastrointestinal, Urologic or Cytopathology. The incumbent will join a very collegial group of 4 full-time AP/CP Pathologists who help run a comprehensive and sophisticated laboratory with both anatomic and clinical testing, in addition to training residents from University of Washington and hosting many patient-care conferences. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service .The incumbent will also be expected to oversee one of the sections of the clinical laboratory like other pathologists.A comprehensive benefits package is available. The VAPSHCS is a University of Washington-affiliated tertiary, referral hospital system with active research and teaching programs. The incumbent will be involved in departmental training/teaching programs and may qualify for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor without tenure in the Department of Pathology at the University of Washington School of Medicine and is commensurate with experience and qualifications, on an annual 12-month service period. The position is available immediately.
Applicants must have an MD or MD/PhD or foreign equivalent and be Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and subspecialty training in Gastrointestinal, Urologic or Cytopathology. Additional training in Medical Informatics, Molecular- or Renal Pathology will be considered a significant bonus.
A record of original contributions to the field of Gastrointestinal, Urologic or Cytopathology will be given a preference.
