Summary of Essential Job Duties:
Facilitate and coordinate care between outpatients and any consultative outpatient services
Performs patient and family education
Under the direction of and in consultation/collaboration with the physician, preceptor or designee, perform a history and physical exam, and make an assessment and diagnosis based upon the examination
Initiate, review and revise treatment and therapy plans under the direction of the Supervising Physicians
Review the patient and the workup prior to an operation or medical admission
Contribute to the formulation of patient management plans in collaboration with the Supervising Physicians and the interdisciplinary team
Under the direction of, and in consultation/collaboration with, the physician preceptor, order or transmit an order, for labs and imaging/nuclear medicine studies, therapeutic diets, physical therapy, occupational therapy and respiratory therapy
Instruct and counsel patients/guardians regarding their physical and mental health; counsel patients/guardians on medications, diets, social habits and understanding of long-term management of their diseases
Write orders as needed for patient care under the direction of the Supervising Physicians
Transmit orally or in writing on a patient's record, a prescription from his/her Supervising Physicians to a person who may lawfully furnish such medication or medical device
Act as resource/support for Infusion Center for GYN Oncology patients receiving treatment by routine rounding and assessing patients, ensuring orders are written timely
