We are seeking a full-time laboratory research assistant to join our neurosurgery research lab at Boston Children's Hospital. The research assistant will perform tasks and experiments that contribute to projects aimed at improving nerve cell regrowth after injury. The research assistant will learn techniques from, meet frequently with, and report directly to the postdoctoral fellow leading the project. The research assistant will interact with Dr. Larry Benowitz and other lab members during weekly meetings and as needed.
Responsibilities will include: - Live mouse care - Mouse perfusion and tissue harvest - Solution preparation and general laboratory duties - Histology: cryostat sectioning, tissue staining, microscopy, quantification - Data analysis and data presentation - Maintaining excellent records of methods and results
Qualifications: - Bachelor Degree - Some research laboratory experience - Experience with laboratory mice or rats - Experience with histology is preferred - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Should be punctual, organized, responsible, detail-oriented, and have a positive attitude
