The Contracts Specialist serves as a specialized resource that assists office staff in negotiating confidential disclosure agreements and material transfer agreements. Monitors and protects hospital interests in Hospital's research and technologies. Provides compliance and administrative support to compile and prepare specialized reports and presentations.
1. Drafts, reviews and negotiates material transfer contracts for the transfer of Hospital-owned technology to non-profit and for-profit corporations for use in research and for the receipt of technology from such organizations for Hospital research. Drafts, reviews and negotiates confidentiality agreements, needed to protect Hospital's technologies and to effect technology transfer, help further the goal of translating Hospital inventions into useful products to benefit the public and build Hospital‑corporate relations. 2. Acquires and maintains knowledgeof
Hospital's policies and procedures applicable to sponsored research and intellectual property, applicable Harvard faculty policies and other academic and professional standards. Acquires understanding of for-profit corporations interests. 3. Maintains effective working relationships with Hospital employees, the Harvard Medical School, affiliated hospitals,universities
and for-profit corporations. 4. Participates in developing procedures, databases, and materials to enhance and facilitate the Hospital's technology transfer function. 5. Participates in professional organizations and related forums to acquire and share current information,trends
and practices. 6. Enters information into computer databases. Transfers data onto online reporting system and/or spreadsheets. Compiles, prints and distributes periodic reports and other information, as needed.
Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of advanced courses for a degree in Law or with 1-2 years of experience in a related field. Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences preferred.
Work requires the analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in‑depth, experienced‑based cross‑functional knowledge.
Work requires excellent communication skills in order to persuade and negotiate with others on important matters.
Work requires ability to collaborate with individuals and teams of individuals within TIDO and across the Hospital
