The Rizzo Laboratory in the Department of Medicine, Aging Institute, is seeking a qualified candidate for a Research Scientist Position.
The Rizzo Laboratory investigates the pathophysiology of diseases of Aging including Alzheimer's disease, neurodegenerative disorders, and related neuropsychiatric and cognitive co-morbidities, and uses preclinical model systems and translational approaches towards identifying disease and symptom-modifying therapeutics. The laboratory is also a critical component of the Model Organism Development for Late Onset Alzheimer's Disease (MODEL-AD) consortium ( www.model-ad.org ).
The incumbent will work closely with the PI and in collaboration with the MODEL-AD multi-disciplinary research team involved in studying late-onset Alzheimer's disease and developing translational approaches for evaluating potential novel mechanisms of action for the treatment of AD in preclinical model systems. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, passionate, organized, have great interpersonal and leadership skills, and have a solid base of knowledge of advanced scientific principles.
The location for this position is Bridgeside Point, 100 Technology Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15219
The incumbent must have a doctoral degree or a professional degree with license, and 3 years of post-graduate research experience in a relevant field of study. Technical expertise in mouse model breeding, in vivo pharmacology and EEG is preferred. The incumbent will also have fundamental knowledge of genetics and Alzheimer's disease.
Minimum Experience Level Required: 3-5 years experience
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Schedule may vary dependent with ongoing experiments.
Hiring Range: $46,644.00 - $76,440.00
