Provide students and families information about financial aid eligibility and availability. Participate in recruiting events on and off campus, such as c onducting presentations and training on financial aid and financial literacy at high schools, orientations, freshmen seminars, etc. Also assist a busy financial aid office in the daily activities, including data entry, using a variety of computer programs, running reports and analyzing spreadsheets.
Bachelor's degree as well as strong verbal and written communication skills, math skills, basic presentation skills and computer experience. Preference for advanced skills in Word and Excel, and a basic knowledge of federal tax returns. Counselor must be comfortable learning new things and keep up with the ever-changing regulations in Financial Aid. Must have ability to deal with sensitive and confidential situations in a calm and efficient manner while dealing with constant interruptions .
