The Advanced Armed Security Officer, under general supervision, provides a visible, armed security presence throughout buildings and property at the Texas A&M University Information Technology Data Center.
Required Education and Experience:
High school graduation or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three years of full-time employment or military service, including one year Security Officer experience or other related experience.
Licenses, Certifications and Registrations:
Must have a State of Texas class âœCâ vehicle driver license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Must have or be able to obtain an Armed Security Officer commission in the State of Texas within 60 days of employment.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Physical ability and mental capabilities to properly carry out responsibilities which require outside working conditions with varying days off.
Ability to communicate effectively with all segments of the public sector.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Must meet the following requirements: 21 years of age or older.
US Citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States.
Good physical and mental condition.
Pass a State and Federal criminal background check.
Preferred Education and Experience:
College courses in police science, security management or law enforcement.
Prior employment involving contact with the public sector.
Provide a security presence at the main entrance, security control center and exterior of the building. Maintains familiarity with the building Emergency Occupant Plan and all emergency exits. Monitor people in the complex to ensure compliance with posted and published rules and regulations. Report information about all sensitive, critical, or hazardous situations.
Monitor access control and intrusion systems, the fire alarm system, and the video surveillance system. Monitor radio and intercom communications systems. Answer questions and otherwise assist visitors. Provide escorts as needed.
Provide security at special events as assigned. Assist with the orientation of new security staff.
Other duties as assigned.
