The Senior Lead Database Administrator, with limited supervision, is responsible for: oversight of the Oracle database and middle tier management as well as system administration of all Maestro servers and reviewing the quality of the work produced by other administrators. This role also includes supervisory and unit-wide mentorship responsibilities.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelorâ™s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Eight years of related experience in database architecture and administration.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skills administering Oracle databases and Weblogic servers, as well as unix based operating systems.
Knowledge of PL/SQL programming language.
Familiar with application development processes.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Working knowledge of load balancing software. Knowledge of network administration and configuration.
Experience with network administration and configuration.
Experience with Oracle cloud products and Exadata.
Provides general oversight of the Oracle Database. Plans and coordinates database upgrades and patches, monitors database performance, and tunes it when needed. Makes sure that recovery environment is always in sync and ready to replace production.
Tests and updates yearly disaster recovery process. Schedules and delegates routine assignments to subordinate employees. Oversees and coordinates operating system patching, upgrades, and monitors hardware's availability.
Responsible for database performance monitoring activities. Monitors daily batch jobs, coordinates database backups, and clones development, training, test, quality control, and administrative instances on request. Manages all regular system operations including Maestro new release deployments and issue management using Jira.
Supports, mentors, and trains Maestro database and systems administrators and works with designers/developers in formulating Maestro database objects. Serves as a senior resource for all unit members with regard to all aspects of the unit with focus on setting technical standards and direction.
Oversees and coordinates Oracle Weblogic upgrades, monitors performance, and manages resolutions for all middle tier problems. Oversees input from clients, developers, systems administrators, and vendors. Performs other duties as assigned.
