Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The Mouse Transgenic and Gene Targeting Facility (MTGTF) is seeking applications for the position of Staff Scientist to work on generation and genotype analysis of genetically modified mouse models. The successful candidates will perform skilled tasks in the MTGTF. The position primary functions are transgenic donor DNA preparation and genotype analysis. The Staff Scientist must be proficient in working with genome databases and other bioinformatics tools, basic molecular skills, plasmid designing and cloning, DNA mapping, and sequence analysis etc.
Education & Experience:
Master degree in molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry required (PhD degree in molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry preferred). Plus 5-7 yearsâ™ molecular cloning and/or genotype analysis laboratory experience (experience with CRISPR/Cas9 is preferred but not required) and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with the following experimental skills and protocol development:
Genomic DNA extraction and DNA quantification
Designing primers and PCR
Agarose gel electrophoresis and DNA purification from an agarose gel
Restriction digests, DNA ligation, bacteria transformation
Molecular cloning through PCR, Gibson Assembly, or others.
Sequence data analysis after Sanger sequencing or NGS
Strong background in molecular biology.
Familiar with mammalian genetics
Experience in applications of genome databases and other bioinformatics tools
Experience with vector design, construction, and analysis
Experience with PCR and sequencing analysis
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Background criminal and education check required.
