The Special Collections Librarian is a member of the Department of Special Collections and Archives. This position is responsible for the maintenance, development, promotion, and curricular use of the College's Special Collections and will provide similar support for archival collections. With strengths in the traditional areas of history, culture, and literature, Carleton's Special Collections is curriculum-driven and includes a strong collection of artist's books, medieval and renaissance facsimiles, examples of Fine and Private Press books, and extensive materials to support studies in the book arts. The Special Collections Librarian will serve as the primary contact for students, faculty, classes, and other researchers interested in Special Collections and they will actively contribute to the overall functioning of the Department of Special Collections and Archives and Gould Library. This position reports to the College Archivist and Head of Special Collections & Archives.
This is a full-time, 12-month position.

The successful candidate must possess an ALA-accredited Master's degree in library or information science, with second Master's preferred; or an equivalent level of education and experience; 1-3 years of experience working with rare books; demonstrated understanding of the mission of an undergraduate liberal arts college if preferred.
