Develops training programs, resources, and guidance materials for faculty, staff, and students in Intellectual Property (IP), commercialization, and technology transfer.
Enhances collaborations and partnerships with industry.
Commercializes College research products and technologies.
Develops a framework for technology transfer activities in the College.
Supports the contracting process and other funding mechanism with industry.
Supports University-Industry joint research and collaboration efforts.
Supports College efforts in Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer.
Coordinates closely with the UH Office of Technology Transfer and Innovation and activities at Technology Bridge.
Facilitates IP discussions between the Technology Bridge and College faculty.
Supports development activities related to Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Industrial Partnership requirements of proposals.
Identifies patentable subject matter, prosecutes and writes patent applications.
Advises and deals with infringement on patents and patent applications and related actions.

Doctoral and 5 years experience
Requires in-depth knowledge of principles and practices within a specific area of a professional field. Requires the interpretation of technical and detailed guidelines, policies, and procedures in combination. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related Doctorate's degree from a college or university (in science or engineering) and a JD. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience which includes a minimum 2 years of experience in a similar position and a minimum of 3 years as a prosecuting patent attorney.
