Reporting to the Director of Administrative Systems and Programming, the Systems Programmer creates and implements new technology systems for University operations. Designs, develops and implements new routines, procedures and applications for University operations and services; maintains and supports established and current application code as needed; designs technical requirements for applications; and tests and debugs code. Serves as active backup for Senior Analyst in the development, implementation, management and support of the University's mission critical systems, including desktop applications, web applications and all associated databases. Researches, troubleshoots, writes and modifies queries. Assists with data integration and provides necessary training. Provides technical support for third-party application integration. Provides technical advice and support to internal and external users. Assists with quality assurance and security of existing systems. Audits existing systems for security weaknesses and improves functionality and security as needed. Develops and gives recommendations on best practices.
