The Senior Research Analyst is responsible for developing, interpreting and implementing financial concepts for financial planning and control within the KP School of Medicine Research department. This position performs technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance specific to the Research enterprise.
Participates in developing, reviewing and processing of funding applications (federal and non-federal) for KPSOM, including submission to federal agencies, various universities, pharmaceutical companies, and foundations.
Prepares applications for funding for all research projects throughout KPSOM to ensure budget accuracy, completeness.
Reviews monthly invoices, summary financial reports, and other reports required by funding agencies according to sponsor requirements.
Monitors research accounts to prevent over expenditure. Reviews account balances and takes necessary actions to correct any issues.
Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial plans, acquisition activity, trended future requirements and operating forecasts.
Performs economic research and studies in the areas of return, depreciations, working capital requirements, investment opportunities, investment performance and impact of governmental requirements.
Prepares financial reports and conducts comprehensive analyses with written summaries to management.
Accountable for the coordination, compilation and distribution of financial data.
Performs financial analysis upon identification of variances, and coordinates with junior analysts' variance analysis process as defined.
Participates in system implementation user testing and provides ongoing feedback for future system updates
Ensures compliance with all required reporting including narrative and financial reports.
Participates in and/or leads projects of moderate to complex scope as assigned.
Minimum five (5) years of related experience
License, Certification, Registration
Broad application of financial analysis principles, theories, and concepts in applicable discipline, plus working knowledge of other related fields.
Advanced proficiency in PC based word processing and spreadsheet applications, including advanced functions such as graphics, pivot tables, macros and database management.
Understanding and application of financial analysis principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
Able to formulate finance study designs and prepare and conduct professional presentations.
Ability to perceive, organize and assimilate information to successfully drive results
Strong attention to details with experience in data analysis
