Hornet Summer Bridge College Prep Reading/Writing instructors will provide focused instruction in the areas of reading comprehension, vocabulary skills, grammar, and essay writing. In addition, the course will address the connection between reading and writing through reading response activities. The ultimate goal of the course is to assist the participants in making a smooth academic transition from high school to college level expectations.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Attend and participate in Summer Bridge Orientation and Staff Development
Evaluate student progress and assess student preparedness for college level courses
Implement the course syllabus to be used during the summer program with fidelity
Introduce students to the fundamentals of reading comprehension and reinforce effective writing skills
Provide meaning activities that will reinforce students’ utilization of the steps in the reading comprehension and writing process
To prepare students for college level writing
Able to make a five week commitment to the Summer Bridge (July 12, 2019-August 16, 2019)
Education & Experience Requirements:
The successful candidate must possess the following:
Demonstrated teaching experience
A minimum of a Bachelor’s in education, English or other related area from an accredited university and tested experience as outlined by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
An earned Master’s degree or 18 graduate hours in the discipline from an accredited university, preferred by not required for this position.

Participate in a minimum of three cultural field experiences on Friday
Should have adequate sight to engage in word processing, view screens, the ability to climbing stairs, ability to sit for extended periods of time in meetings and observations, etc
