Junior Specialist - QB3
Description: The Junior Specialist will be working in the QB3 Department at the University of California, Berkeley on a sponsored research project focused on developing new technologies to deliver genes to mammalian cells for therapeutic application. This project involves considerable molecular biology and cell culture efforts to investigate the potential of a new system for gene delivery.
The Junior Specialist will conduct laboratory research involving DNA cloning and construction, DNA purification and analysis, mammalian cell culture, mammalian cell transfection, and mammalian cell gene expression analysis. The Junior Specialist will be working in the laboratory on plasmid construction and cell culture and will be tracking the progress and data of the project as well as playing a strong role in preparing this project for future publication. The Junior Specialist will meet with the principal investigator and lab director regularly for supervision and oversight of experiments and progress, as well as receive training from other personnel in the lab. The Junior Specialist must keep an organized detailed lab notebook and must receive training and comply with campus guidelines for the safe conduct of research.
Basic Qualifications required at the time of application:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent international degree.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent international degree in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology, or a related field. At least one year experience in molecular biology, bacterial cell culture, and mammalian cell culture.
