Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Accounting Specialist, Payroll for Payroll Services. This position is primarily responsible for handling the setup, payment and reporting of child support, garnishments and tax levies. The Accounting Specialist, Payroll oversees monthly reconciliation of all associated accounts.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsible for reviewing and processing taxable moving expense and charitable contribution deductions.
Identifies and resolves any contract pay discrepancies.
Responsible for the bi-weekly processing of the Hourly payroll to completion.
Researches and resolves discrepancies.
Provides superior customer service through assistance and guidance to University employees regarding salary related issues.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Also requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Exceptional customer service skills
Must be able multi task in a fast-paced environment and work well with others.
Strong working knowledge of payroll procedures and specifically employee non-benefit deductions.
Advanced Excel knowledge preferred
Three years' experience in payroll, knowledge of and experience with payroll and accounting systems is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with PeopleSoft and Rutgers' Financial Management Systems preferred.
