Summary of Duties:
The Veterinary Assistant provides operational and patient care support for the patients at the OSU Veterinary Medical Center – Dublin ER. Primary responsibilities include assisting faculty and technicians with the assessment and treatment of patients; assisting with various procedures; providing client education such as home care instructions, post-op home care instructions, medication overview, and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients. Position requires detailed knowledge of biological parameters and the ability to differentiate normal and abnormal values; knowledge of restraint techniques as well as triage practices. Must be knowledgeable and comfortable with acquiring vitals on stable patients and documenting appropriate information the medical record. Working knowledge of equipment and set-up procedures in a veterinary setting is required. Excellent communications skills are required. Must be able to maintain a clean and efficient working area and may perform basic cleaning duties such as dust mopping, wet mopping, laundry, and trash removal. Veterinary Assistant will cross train to be able to work in Client Services as needed. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Position will work 30 hours per week on 3rd shift on a scheduled to be determined the business needs of the unit. Weekday overnight hours will be eligible for a $1.75 shift differential and weekend overnight hours will be eligible for a $2.25 shift differential. Holidays are required and are based on a team rotation. Holiday hours worked will be eligible for the University's holiday premium pay benefit. Position requires the successful completion of a background check.

High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of six months of veterinary/animal science experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working in a veterinary hospital or large veterinary practice.
Target Salary: $11.10 - $13.00 Hourly
