Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in the assigned department, performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of clinic activity. This includes prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparation and assistance with patient examinations, administering medications, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, and patient education.
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - issued by the state of California.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.
LVN license with active intravenous therapy and blood withdrawal certificate or commitment to take the intravenous therapy and blood withdrawal certificate within 60 days of hire.
Demonstrated LVN experience in direct patient care.
Requires knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics.
Strong skills in accurately taking and recording vital signs, height and weight; administering medication including injections; drawing blood from the central line or by peripheral draw, starting IV, EKG's and collecting and/or testing specimens.
Proven knowledge of the normal range of values for vital signs, emergency procedures, and of basic lab and infection control procedures.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to take initiative, prioritize critical demands and work in a team environment.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Willing to work overtime as required.
