Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The DGHSM seeks a Research Assistant to perform a variety of complex duties to support a GHSM faculty member who serves on the Research Core. Working both independently and in collaboration with others, the Research Assistant will be responsible for supporting and otherwise contributing to research products with a global health focus, including but not limited to: coordinating research team and other writing collaborations; preparing literature reviews, grant proposals, and manuscripts for publication; preparation (including background research, formatting, and editing) of journal articles, white papers, reviews, and presentations. The Research Assistant will assist in the scientific development of content, including but not limited to analyses of data. In addition, the Research Assistant will be responsible for tracking IRB submissions.
Specifically, the Research Assistant will:
Provide technical support on research projects, including supporting the US and international ethics approval processes, literature reviews, developing data collection tools and protocols, preparation of data, analyses, presentations of results, and writing/editing. Liaise between in-country research teams and Boston-based research team, primarily on research related to global surgery in Rwanda.
Provide administrative support to research grants, including reports, budgeting and coordinating communications between co-investigators.
Support in-country implementations of research training and provide technical feedback and mentorship to new investigators attending these training.
Compile information on outputs and outcomes of research capacity building activities across PIH sites.
Travel at least 20% time.
The Research Assistant is responsible for establishing and meeting deadlines, and facilitating communication among key players from Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Partners In Health.
Performs other related tasks as assigned.
This is a term position with an end date of 12 months from the hire date.

College background or equivalent experience, preferably in Global Health. One or two years of related work experience in Global Health.
Master's degree preferred; Experience in supporting research projects, grants and papers; Ability to develop databases; preferred previous experience with RedCap. Experience in data cleaning and analysis. Stata experience preferred. Ability to lead data analysis and support new researchers in leading data analysis. Strong writing skills in English, including experience with scientific writing. French language skills preferred. Exceptional organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively and with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Formal training in global health and global health research.
