The Center for Integrative Studies seeks applicants for an academic specialist- Curriculum Development in assessment of student learning outcomes and program assessment in MSU’s Integrative Studies general education social science curriculum.
Lead the College of Social Science efforts to evaluate the effectiveness of the integrative studies curriculum, particularly the Center for Integrative Studies in Social Science. This includes assessing progress towards improving:
assessment efforts in general education;
interaction and coordination of assessment across integrative studies units;
reporting on assessment results, both internally and externally to appropriate stakeholders, for evidence-based decision-making and unit and institutional improvement;
developing faculty and staff on assessment and evaluation methods and best practices;
participating in internal and external assessment and accreditation initiatives;
developing assessment plans and evaluating the success of assessment initiatives;
coordinating Human Subjects research compliance and proposals as well as ensuring security, privacy, and confidentiality of human subjects' data related to program assessment and educational research studies.
Expectation of teaching one section of an ISS course per year after an initial one-year appointment period.

Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate general education and assessment of student learning, interest in working with an interdisciplinary group of faculty, experience in assessment of educational programs (in general education and/or social sciences) and completed a social science or related Ph.D. within one year of accepting the position.
Candidate must have an excellent working knowledge of research design, analytic development tools, and statistics to provide support for projects in the areas of: program assessment, student learning outcomes assessment, and integrative studies related to general education. Expertise in basic statistics, database/spreadsheet management, and data analysis and manipulation (using SPSS, SAS, or Stata), as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) are required.
In addition, candidates must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with faculty, staff, and students from diverse social, economic, and cultural backgrounds. Candidates should possess outstanding organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral and written communication skills. Candidates should have the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and to work well in a team-oriented environment.
