The Sempere Lab in the Precision Health Program at Michigan State University is seeking a Research Associate (postdoctoral fellow) to lead specific components of our translational cancer research program with a focus on intraductal approaches for breast cancer prevention and treatment. The Sempere Lab investigates various aspects of the pathophysiology of the breast using a multi-disciplinary approach, including histological and molecular pathology analyses, genetic engineering and chemical induction to generate novel breast cancer models in rodents and large animals, in vivo imaging and local ablation of ductal trees.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Conduct intraductal delivery of contrast solution for imaging and/or ablation of ductal trees.
Conduct in vivo imaging and correlative tissue analyses to assess efficacy of epithelial ablation.
To characterize novel CRISPR-generated or chemically induced intraductal models of breast cancer in rodents and large animals.
Conduct independent laboratory research and mentor students in a team environment.
Write manuscripts and grant proposals.

Doctorate -Radiology/Biomedical Sciences
PhD or equivalent degree in Radiology, Biomedical Sciences, or similar field.
Good oral and written communication
Good organizational skills; attention to detail and thoroughness in record keeping
Expertise on MR, CT, and/or ultrasound imaging modalities in rodents and/or large animals is desired
Experience with HIFU or other thermal ablation protocols will be an asset
Experience working with viral delivery systems (e.g. lentivirus, adenovirus) and/or rodent (mice and/or rats) model of cancer will be an asset
