Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Doctoral Degree or foreign equivalent degree.
PhD or foreign equivalent in Epidemiology, Public Health, Psychology, Sociology or a related field. Experience in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Experience in social inequalities and health. A strong background in quantitative analysis methods used in research, an interest in longitudinal modeling, and/or experience interpreting quantitative results.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the Program in Public Health. The incumbent will conduct research studies using existing data (R01 AG058595; Clouston, Principal Investigator). The incumbent will also work to ensure that all analyses are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The successful applicant will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as evidenced by a strong scholarly record, and the ability to work independently and in a dynamic research group.
Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research in the field of Public Health. This study involves examining domains of social inequalities including education, income, gender and sexual minorities, and racial/ethnic minorities utilizing longitudinal modeling of cognitive functioning as the outcome.
Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.
Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
Special Notes: The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. The fellowship will last two years, with the option of extension contingent on performance and continued funding.
