The College of Education invites applications for a Student Support Specialist II.
JOB DUTIES Support Graduate Student Processes within the COE Collaborate with the Graduate School to ensure the highest level of student service to current and prospective students and ensure that the College maintains compliance with Graduate School policies. This includes but is not limited to
Facilitating review and completion of admissions processes and documentation
Ensuring uniformity of form submissions and compliance with degree completion timelines
Coordinating submission of requests for initial and continuing Graduate Faculty Status for dissertation chairs and committee members
Ensuring faculty are informed of and students are in compliance with all Graduate School policies
Collaborating with faculty and Graduate School to create and maintain updated procedures.
Managing doctoral student equivalency hour and time extension requests
Managing doctoral graduation lists
Initiating improvements to systems, forms or processes independently.
Support educator certification processes
Additional Duties As Assigned
Assist with general college phone inquiries
Provide administrative support for COE gift and general operating funded scholarships including preparation of requests to Financial Aid or the Graduate School.
Serve as a backup to other administrative support functions within the College of Education in general, and particularly within the Dean's Office, including: receiving visitors, making appointments, supporting meetings and events.
Provide support to the Dean for editing, writing and communications.
This is a benefits eligible 100% fte position. Normal operating hours are 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Some planned evening and weekend hours are necessary to meet the needs of our current and prospective students or special events. Travel is limited.
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired.
One year of experience in an academic higher education institution.
Excellent attention to detail.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
Evidence of professionalism when interacting with students and faculty
Ability to prioritize work and persist calmly under pressure
Ability to be flexible and manage multiple activities simultaneously and to be interrupted and manage unexpected needs while maintaining strong customer relations.
Demonstrated organizational skills
Evidence of regularly meeting deadlines
Sound knowledge of and ease with learning computer systems, software, social media
Demonstrated editorial skills in the creation of newsletters, websites, and other publications
Minimum salary is $15.29 per hour
