Electrical Trades Specialist Lead II - Facilities & Services 11322
The Facilities Management unit of the Division of Facilities and Services at West Virginia University is seeking applications for an Electrical Trades Specialist Lead II position. This position directs the work of a crew(s) of electricians, maintenance helpers, trades workers, and other assigned personnel while performing both installation of new construction and general maintenance of existing facilities utilizing journeyman level electrical skills.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Function as a team leader, providing guidance to journeymen, maintenance workers, trades workers, apprentices and any other support personnel as required. Follow procedures and make work assignments to those individuals assigned to the crew to ensure proper quality and quantity and that work is completed in a timely fashion. Inspect completed work assignments of journeymen, craft workers, trades workers, and helpers to ensure quality control. Ensure that proper safety procedures, equipment, and personal protective equipment are used while performing job duties.
Receive work orders and interface with Work Control, Supervisor, Managers, and requesting party to finalize project needs and scope. Assist supervisor with multi-craft projects related to overall work assignments. Communicate work schedules and goals to employees and customer, creating efficiency and a timely completion of assigned tasks.
Provide daily reports on actual progress versus projected progress to Supervisor. Maintain the origianl scope of project to ensure project cost control. Inform supervisor of needed discipline and performance problems. Ensure that work group processes all work requests, material requisitions, weekly repors, and invoices necessary to complete assignment s according to Facilities Management building operations.
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot 23kv and 5kv underground power distribution circuits. Pull high voltage cables through underground ducts and cable trays in steam tunnels. Splice and terminate high voltage cable using current state-of-the-art (3M) materials and methods.
Design routing plans, and install and maintain new electrical conduit, tubing, wiremold, raceway, and associated accessories to accommodate electrical and telecommunications wiring. This duty requires pipe fitting ability.
Install and maintain all control systems for motors, lights, heat, and air controls, participating with various crafts as required to properly troubleshoot and repair control systems.
Install and maintain existing and new lighting systems for both interior and exterior of buildings, including street lights and parking lot lighting.
Operate state vehicles to travel to University buildings for repairs and installations.

Facilities and Services takes care of every aspect of WVU so that its employees, students and guests are safe and satisfied on campus.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday; 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Pay Grade: 15 , WVU provides competitive wages for its employees, and takes experience and related education into consideration when determining appropriate salary
Basic knowledge of other trades such as HVAC, plumbing, electronics, and carpentry. Practical experience in crew leadership and the ability to work independently. Experience in coordination of construction, renovation, and maintenance projects.
Valid driver's license
