UW Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for an evening shift, FULL-TIME (100%) HOSPITAL CENTRAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN 1 in our UWMC Central Supplies Processing Department (CSPD). This position will receive, decontaminate, assemble, sterilize and package equipment and supplies following established procedures. The Technician 1 is expected to function under general supervision in carrying out day to day assignments, working closely with the In-Charge Hospital Central Service Transport Tech I and the CSPD Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES:Under general supervision, receive, pick up, decontaminate, assemble, peel pack, and sterilize following established procedures.Pick up and transport soiled instruments, case carts, basins from all patient care areas to the decontamination area for reprocessing.Sort, soak, and clean instruments; disassemble as needed; load into baskets and process through automatic washer decontaminators.Load and operate semi-automatic cart washer to clean case carts, instrument tray containers.Inspect, test, and assemble procedure trays; and sterilize linen packs and selected disposables.Perform, analyze, and document sterilizer function tests using vacuum, chemical and biological indicators.Verify correct sterilization cycles by checking and signing sterilizer parameter printouts.Load autoclave carts and sterilize surgical instrument setsLoad and unload linen carts for steam sterilizationUnload autoclave carts and place sterile instruments and linens in proper location in case cart area.Perform related duties as required.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:One year of experience as a Hospital Central Services Technician Trainee or equivalent, OR equivalent education/experience.DESIRABLES:IAHCSMM certification.This position provides opportunities to work in a fast-paced, challenging, diverse and rewarding environment.
