The Research Assistant will assist the Principal Investigator conducting survey and program evaluation research. Perform duties specifically related to research activities including data collection, database management, interviews, records management, survey development and report creation. Will also attend mandatory interviewing and confidentially training, complete surveys and tracking forms, perform standard TAMU record-keeping tasks, submit time-sheets and mileage reports, communicate regularly with field supervisors via email and phone, and comply with data security and confidentiality protocols. This is a temporary position and may last from December 1, 2018 to June 15, 2019 with no expectation of employment beyond those dates.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Education, Public Health or other related field
Minimum one (1) year of experience working and/or caring for individuals with physical, intellectual, or developmental disabilities (as a professional or volunteer) or working and/or caring for the elderly.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Must have a valid driverâ™s license and provide proof of auto liability insurance upon job acceptance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally in Spanish.
Applicant is responsible for transportation to different locations to conduct participant interviews.
Knowledge of phones, computers, email, and internet.
Requires the ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Other Requirements or Other Factors:
Must sign a confidentiality agreement and must pass a check of the Nurse Aide Registry and Employee Misconduct Registry.
Must be comfortable calling participants, traveling to participant locations and interviewing in residential (non-public or business) settings.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Social Sciences, Education, Public Health or other related field
Experience conducting interviews/surveys or collecting data from participants either over the phone or face to face.
Experience using Google Docs, PC environment and Microsoft Excel.
Oversees data collection. Participates in survey development by creating, documenting and testing surveys. Provides resource estimates and progress reports. Ensures that all work is accurate and in compliance with the departmental or project protocols. Communicates project team to determine needs and requirements. Conduct interviews.
Provides database management for various research projects. Plans, organizes and controls activities related to database systems. Provides technical and analytical support for project activities.
Assists Principal Investigator with research project activities such as: data collection sites, maintaining project records and providing quality control checks. Assists with development and implementation of project time lines. Organizes, manages, coordinates, and monitors tasks to meet deadlines.
Assists Principal Investigator with summarizing key information from collected data and creating written reports, publications, grant proposals, official correspondence and graphic presentations. Performs other duties as assigned.
