This position is responsible for the planning, designing, monitoring, and management of the installation and maintenance of the Universitynetwork infrastructure. Responsibilities: 30% Plan, install, maintain, test and troubleshoot complex networks voice infrastructure in accordance with industry standards
25% Plan, install, maintain, test and troubleshoot complex networks, both LAN and WAN data infrastructure in accordance with industry standards
15% Management and documentation of voice infrastructure and applications, network closets, wiring schematics, cable records, and associated inventory
25% Coordinate and assist other ITS or vendor personnel to complete campus voice and data network projects, maintenance, and/or resolve associated network hardware or software problems
4% Other duties as required or directed by Manager This is a CJIS Level 3 security-sensitive position- Personnel with information technology roles who may have access to the Criminal Justice Information System (This level is designed for all information technology personnel including system administrators, security administrators, network administrators, etc.); As a condition of employment the individual will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information System Fingerprint Background Check and within a reasonable timeframe after the individual'semployment successfully complete periodic training to retain and maintain assigned responsibilities.
1% 24/7 technical support response in emergency situations or as directed by Manager
Required Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience; Three years of experience providing networking design/support in LAN and WAN environments, including experience with Cisco switches/routers.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of troubleshooting and problem-solving, client relations skills, requirement assessment and analysis, project management methodology, context and interrelationships. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Other Requirements: This is security-sensitive position- The individual in this position will be required to access the Criminal Justice Information System; As a condition of employment the individual will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information System Fingerprint Background Check.
Experience with Cisco infrastructure and/or specifically with Cisco VoIP, UCS, Wireless, Core networking. Cisco or other networking certifications (networking layers 1-3)
