This position is responsible for cleaning the Arboretum and Horticultural Research Center buildings and providing setup and take down of tables, chairs and equipment for group room rentals. The position requires, on a daily basis, bending down to clean toilets, pick up dirt from floor after sweeping, pick up debris from floor and to lift items that need to be transported from one area to another, pulling and pushing mop, broom and vacuum cleaner; lifting and carrying tables, chairs, garbage bags, boxes of varying weight levels.
** This is a temporary 100% position from March 04, 2019 through June 09, 2019
70% - Clean classrooms, Auditorium, Fireplace Room, lobby, offices, restrooms and other public areas in the Arboretum and the Horticultural Research Center buildings. Empty trash, sweep and mop floors, wash windows and fixtures, vacuum carpets, clean restrooms, and related jobs. Garbage bags weigh around 50 pounds each.
25% - Set up for room rentals. Set up and take down tables, chairs and other equipment for classes, meetings, rental groups and social functions. Tables weigh between 35 – 65 pounds each.
5% - Lock buildings and patrol grounds before locking gates in the evening .Seasonal Snow removal.
Ability to read and write competently in English, follow oral and written instructions. Ability to lift 50 lbs to shoulder height and climb 8-foot ladders. Must have valid MN Drivers License.
Additional Information: Some tables weigh 35 pounds each, others weigh as much as 60-65 pounds each, and garbage bags usually weigh around 50 pounds each. The B & G worker must be able to perform these job functions without the aid of another person as the B & G Worker may be working by his or herself after the building is closed for the day.
