The Cancer Center at UCSF is currently seeking a Specialist to work at the Fong Laboratory. Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Working collaboratively and independently to develop and complete research projects • Determine best and implement bioinformatics pipelines for carrying out bulk and single cell RNAseq and TCRseq • Carry out bioinformatics analysis collaboratively as a part of a team for the Cancer Immunotherapy Program and generate publication quality figures • Set up in vitro primary tumor cultures for immunotherapy and other immune functional assays • Training lab members, including guiding and troubleshooting experiments for PhD students, postdocs, and laboratory staff
Required Qualifications: • Possess a PhD degree • Several years of experience of running bioinformatics analysis on bulk and single cell RNAseq • Applicants need to be self-motivated, fast learners, critical thinkers, and enthusiastic about science and medicine. • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently. • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and troubleshoot experiments. • At least 2 years of experience working with mammalian cell lines in culture.
Preferred Qualifications • Have shown productivity and creativity by publishing in peer-reviewed journals • Have experience in working in a team rather than individual projects • Have experience training others to do experiments and run bioinformatics pipelines
