Full Time; Career Starting Salary Range: $4,166.67 - $5,666.67/monthly. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Under the general direction of the K-12 STEM Outreach Director and the COSMOS Faculty Director, the selected candidate will be responsible for the successful implementation of the COSMOS (California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science) program. In conjunction with the Faculty Director, the candidate will oversee the planning, implementation, and management of the COSMOS program, and will provide direction, guidance, and performance expectations to COSMOS program staff. COSMOS management will include working with the COSMOS Faculty Director to ensure all materials and logistical needs for course-clusters are met, and assisting with academic recruitment logistics. The candidate will also design and implement the residential life component of COSMOS, including hiring and training residential staff, overseeing plans for residential activities and field trips, ensuring student safety, and overall compliance with UCSC policies. The incumbent will also use advanced knowledge of residential programming and student affairs to resolve complex cases/ situations that may arise involving high school aged program participants. Additional responsibilities include overseeing participant recruitment, application, acceptance, and registration processes as well as program related communications.

The EPC provides support to faculty, staff, and outreach groups to work collaboratively with schools, community colleges, and universities to promote educational pathways to success for all students.
Must possess a valid license to drive in the State of California.
Must be willing to work variable hours including evening, and weekends, especially during the summer program.
Must have personal vehicle and insurance, and be able to travel within service area. Qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in related area or combination of equivalent experience / training.
Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs / Student Life goals, philosophies, and program development.
Extensive skills in judgment, reasoning, and decision-making. Extensive experience with problem identification and problem solving.
Knowledge of youth and adolescent development theory, including issues facing low income, first generation, and urban youth.
Demonstrated cultural competency with respect to race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status.
This position requires passing a pre-employment criminal history background check.
This position requires an adjusted work schedule with increased hours for five weeks during the summer.
