Advertised Summary Job Description: The Mailman School of Public Health seeks a Director of Online Education who will report to the Vice Dean for Education and work closely with senior leaders in the Office of Education to help establish a clear vision and strategy for the Mailman School's online education initiatives. The Director will be responsible for collaborating with departments, faculty, and staff across the school to create, implement, and maintain high-quality online courses and programs. The Director will help to develop and implement strategies that are scalable and financially sustainable as the school advances online offerings in both degree and non-degree spaces. This individual will oversee the end-to-end course and program development, the overall implementation, and the day-to-day operations and management of online courses and programs at the School.
Online Program Management: Provide day-to-day management and administrative oversight for all aspects of online program operations, including, but not limited to online course design and development, faculty development and resources, budgeting, operations, data collection and assessment, and reporting. Help develop best practices and guidelines in online design and delivery for the school to continuously improve the quality of course design and faculty support. Coordinate activities with enrollment management, recruiting, student affairs, and registrar as they pertain to development and management of online courses and programs. Establish protocols and best practices for external relationships with vendors and consultants to help build internal resources and capabilities.
Online Program Development: Develop and monitor implementation and project plans for online course and program development. Work closely with faculty and staff to guide the design of new online courses and programs and the conversion of existing in-person offerings. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and senior leadership to ensure proposed online courses and programs support the overall strategic vision. Collaborate with Center for Teaching & Learning and other departments and centers in order to understand and leverage University-wide resources available to the school.
Online Program Leadership & Strategy: Work with Vice Dean and senior leadership to create an implementation strategy for online education at the school. Research, monitor and understand the current online educational and technological landscape for public health education and apply this to the school's current educational goals and offerings. Stay abreast of research, trends, and innovations in teaching and learning as applied to hybrid and online learning environments. Develop plans to build the School's capacity for online programs, including additional staff and resources.
Online Program Marketing and Communications: Work closely with communications, enrollment management, and recruiting staff to develop marketing and communications strategy to promote Mailman's online learning programs, initiatives and other offerings via social and other relevant channels to raise awareness and provide thought leadership.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five to seven years of related experience in higher education, technology, online content and delivery or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience in online higher education administration, organization, strategic planning, and budget management.
Demonstrated experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and educational technology best practices in online and hybrid educational programs.
Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and managing online programs and initiatives in a higher education or related setting.
