Major Duties: General summary: Responsible for all stages of client-ready copy creation from initial interviews and concept development, to research and writing, to client presentations and final approvals. Skilled strategic writing, with complete and total command of the English language, as well as exhibit good judgment.- Serves as content lead for major marketing initiatives and strategic communication, through collaboration with the marketing, design and digital teams on concept, development and execution of content strategies that advance our institution's mission.- Produces original content on a daily basis that is compelling, relevant and spotlights WMU in new and arresting ways that connect with the desired audience and drives action, continually raising the bar on creativity.- Ensures all content is optimized for search and distribution across platforms, including desktop, mobile, social, video and newsletters.- Leverages and incorporates analytics and external market data into content planning and development to ensure that WMU is creating content of value to its audiences.- Builds relationships and demonstrates expert content strategy leadership within a decentralized organization.- Creates and interprets a creative brief to develop and produce concepts through execution.- Researches and understands target audiences through online searches, reviews of existing research, interviews with subject matter experts, and in-person meetings.- Leverages and incorporates analytics and external market data into content planning and development to ensure that WMU is creating content of value to its audiences.- Builds relationships and demonstrates expert content strategy leadership within a decentralized organization.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.- Five years' relevant experience.- Professional copywriting experience with solid portfolio of work. - Exceptional storytelling skills. - Excellent research/interviewing skills. - Ability to think both analytically and creatively, and from the perspective of the target audience. - Ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines. - Excellent organizational skills and multitasking ability.- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and creative software applications.
