This position is in the Department of Medicine, Division of Oncology. The position is located at Christian Northeast POB# 2.
Position plans, organizes, gives direction and assists in administrative and managerial aspects of clinical operations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises non-clinical operations including to the following staff positions: medical secretary, medical records clerk, patient service representative and billing reimbursement coordinator.
Assists with the coordination of billing/insurance activities, documentation monitoring, compliance and charge maximization for activities within the center. Posts co-pay information from the previous day to the AIS system creating a Receipt Voucher. Posts RV #s to the Daily Transaction report in GE/IDX system and scans receipt information to accounting office coordinator. Makes daily deposits no later than 2:00 PM the next business day and picks up any co-pay deposits from the retail Pharmacy. Makes required change for the front desk and pharmacy as needed.
Provides oversight and guidance to all IDX operations at West County Siteman Cancer Center including scheduling, patient tracking, and reporting. Serves as a master scheduler.
Posts interdepartmental invoices through the AIS system monitoring open encumbrances and following up when necessary. Monitors Center’s administrative bills for timely payments, adjustments and responsible use of resources.
Acts as liaison to scheduling hub to facilitate scheduling of new patients ensuring that secretarial staff at West County organize and provide all necessary data for new patient consults.
Plans and carries out orientation program and staff training/development for new personnel and continuing education and competency training for all personnel in accordance with FPP Practice Standards.
Monitor supplies, equipment, mail and related operational non-clinical services.
Assists with the development and maintenance of policies and procedures for the Clinical Center.
Assists clinic manager with a variety of administrative duties including job descriptions, job application, interviews, performance evaluations, new employee paperwork, time records, etc.
Must provide excellent customer service and positive leadership skills. Must be a team motivator and educate staff on customer service and teamwork principles.
Participate in continued professional development, attending educational programs, in-services and meetings as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Equivalent of High School diploma with 5 years related experience including 2 years as a supervisor.
If order entry in the Electronic Medical Record is part of the job’s function/responsibilities, Registered/Certified Medical Assistant or successfully achieve MA registration/certification or pass ABR exam within 6 months of hire date or within a shorter time frame if noted by hiring manager.
Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
Excellent clinical skills.
Strong organizational and personnel skills required due to broad span of command.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, required.
Must have current knowledge of patient rights, informed consent and risk management issues.
Computer skills including spreadsheets and word processing.
The hiring range for this position is $42,494 - $53,144 annually.
