Research Specialist A/B will assist in neurodegenerative disease research using established and novel techniques in immunohistochemistry. Duties include assisting in brain autopsy for the pathological diagnosis of neurodegenerative disease, research on human brains as well as related animal studies.Other duties include microtomy, microscopy, database use, equipment troubleshooting, inventory management and providing other duties necessary for the day to day operation of the Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research (CNDR) laboratory. Active contribution to scientific projects through data organization and analysis is required. Candidate will be expected to attend and present at regular laboratory meetings and take part in activities of the Center. Research Specialist B: In addition to the duties and requirements for Research Specialist A, the Research Specialist B will be expected to work more independently, to have knowledge of brain anatomy and perform brain dissection at autopsy. The Research Specialist B will also determine the pathological diagnosis through analysis of diagnostic stains and write the neuropathological autopsy report. The Research Specialist B would have the additional duty of filling brain bank requests by independently identifying and retrieving materials that meet the unique parameters of each request. The Research Specialist B will also train students and post-docs in the laboratory as well as supervise students.
