St. Cloud State University seeks applications for a tenure-track probationary appointment in the Marketing Department of the Herberger Business School, beginning Fall semester 2019 to teach Business Communication courses. The Herberger Business School offers eight undergraduate majors, a Master of Business Administration program, and a Master of Science in Information Assurance program. The Herberger Business School has been accredited by AACSB since 1976.
Teach undergraduate and graduate business communication courses and contribute to achievement of department goals which include:
Providing an effective learning environment for students,
Contributing to school curriculum and program development and enhancement,
Contributing to student growth and development such as student advising,
Continuing development of professional knowledge and skills in business communication,
Conducting scholarly and/or professional research
Performing service to the department, school, university, and our various publics, such as committee assignments and/or community service
Assisting the school in maintaining AACSB International accreditation.
In order to be considered for tenure, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:
1) Teach and perform other assignments effectively;
2) Conduct scholarly and/or professional research;
3) Continue preparation and study in discipline;
4) Contribute to student growth and development; and
5) Provide service to the university and community. (IFO Article 22, Section B)
Master's degree in English, technical communication, or degree directly related to business/professional communication from a nationally accredited college or university
Experience teaching/training business communication topics/courses in professional and/or academic settings
Evidence of commitment to and interest in scholarly, professional, and/or collaborative research
Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds
Evidence of ability to contribute to student/subordinate growth and development
Ph.D. in English, technical communication, or degree directly related to business/professional communication from a nationally accredited college or university
Substantial industry experience in business, corporate, or technical communication
As part of the interview process, candidates with campus interviews will be required to teach a business communication class where teaching effectiveness will be evaluated by SCSU marketing faculty.
