•Administers a defined operational program or activities which may include some of the following functions: finance, facilities, payroll, space planning, student services, human resources, communications, informational technology or safety. •Running studies of many different kinds and overseeing undergraduate research assistants as they run studies. The lab manger will spend the first month receiving extensive training to learn how to conduct behavioral research and will be expected to oversee behavioral studies after training is complete. •Gathers and analyzes financial and other resource data; prepares reports or analyses of operational activities, evaluation of current and proposed services, etc. •Managing and maintaining all lab equipment, materials, and software. •Functions as a resource on issues such as researching complex financial discrepancies, overseeing the Lab's expenditures and incoming and outgoing grant monies, escalated customer service problems and vendor concerns. •Assesses and recommends changes to maintain compliance with federal and state requirements and internal policies. Supporting, learning, and teaching new research software. This includes updating and creating all relevant user manuals for current software programs and new programs. The lab manager will serve as the 'expert' on how to use Qualtrics, MediaLab, SPSS, and R. •Participates in the development and revision of standard operating procedures and guidelines. •Provides guidance to supervisors and managers in developing job descriptions, facilitating benefits communications, and providing guidance on compensation programs, personnel policies, and procedures. •Hiring, coordinating and working with many part time research (student) assistants. The lab manager would determine the projects and responsibilities of each of the research assistants and work with Faculty and their graduate students to make sure all research needs are met including writing up IRBs. •Conducts trends analyses and helps develop resulting recommendations. •Develops and maintains budgets.•Working knowledge of common campus-specific and other computer application programs (SPSS, PowerPoint, Excel). •Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing. •Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. •Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality. •Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns. •Experience running experiments of all kinds in the lab and field. •Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. This is a Temporary (Contract Appointment) working 20-hours (50% time) for 10-months.
