The Police Officer II, under general supervision, prevents and investigates violations of the law, University rules and regulations. Security Authority (CSA). A CSA reports non-personally identifying information to the Department of Public Safety related to incidents that fall within the Jeanne Clery Act. Working knowledge of and completion of annual training on the Jeanne Clery Act is required.
Patrols assigned area in a patrol car, on a bike or on foot to preserve law and order; Control the flow of traffic; Enforce traffic and other laws, local ordinances and University policies while strictly adhering to department policies and procedures; Responds to general public service calls and complaints involving automobile accidents, traffic hazards, misdemeanor and felony incidents, domestic disturbances, civil complaints and related incidents.
Conduct investigation of criminal violations and/or activities; Review and analyze crime reports for pertinent facts; Interview victims and witnesses; Interrogate suspects; Take fingerprints and photographs as necessary for investigation and other law enforcement purposes.
Operate emergency vehicles during hazardous conditions; Respond to medical emergency calls; Provide basic first aid and CPR as appropriate until relieved by Emergency Medical Service personnel; Provide first line crisis intervention in domestic disputes or suicide situations.
Prepare and serve search and arrest warrants; Testify in traffic and criminal courts as when necessary; Serve legal documents for the court; Assists other criminal justice agencies in accordance with department policy.
Perform public presentations on issues of concern to the University community; Provide security and crowd control as requested for University events; Provide escort services for the University community as required.
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
One (1) year of experience as a licensed Police Officer.
Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)intermediate certification.
Must have a State of Texas class
