This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The purpose of the Lab Director/Manager position is to assist the director in running the day-to-day operations of the Center and to manage the facility when the director is not present. A primary responsibility is to manage scanner recharge payments by contacting PI's, obtaining their grant identification numbers, and verifying scanner hours charged, cancelled scan charges. The Lab Director/Manager will also order stimulus/response equipment, computer supplies, and disposable supplies (e.g., dental impression plates, motion tracker markers). The Lab Director/Manager will assist researchers when they have problems logging into the scanner console or the data server, and problems with the MRI-compatible stimulus and response equipment. The Lab Director/Manager will do weekly pruning of the main scanner console image database and manage notification and deletion of untransferred data. The Lab Director/Manager will also interface with Siemens Healthcare to receive Siemens replacement equipment deliveries and Siemens personnel for regular scanner maintenance visits, which occur every few weeks, especially when the Director is not at the Center. The Lab Director/Manager will be able to detect major alarm conditions for the magnet (loss of cooling water, loss of electrical power to helium compressor) and will know how to contact the Director (when he is not on site) and/or Siemens Customer Care. Finally, the Lab Director/Manager will serve as Center receptionist for researchers, human subjects, and campus maintenance personnel. In cases where human subjects are children, there may be a large number of people in the Center at one time (caretakers, siblings, possibly a new group entering while the previous group is preparing to leave).

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $4,500 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,748 - $6,582 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Equivalent to three years of experience providing instructional support services for a related unit or discipline, or in producing materials or supplies or repairing equipment in a discipline related to specialty area to which assigned.
OR Equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline related to the area to which assigned may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
OR Equivalent to four years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline related to the specialty area to which assigned may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
