Position:The College of Health Professions invites applications for a 10-month, full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor Position with both undergraduate and graduate teaching opportunities beginning August 2019. Salary is competitive; this position includes the state benefits package.
Qualifications:Research doctoral degree in health care management or related field required. ABD applicants considered, but appointment will be at the instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2020. Preference will be given to candidates with a one year record of teaching excellence and/or health care management or clinical practice. Preferred candidates will demonstrate teaching excellence, and show evidence of having developed a sustained scholarship agenda leading to refereed publications.
Other requirements: ability to develop collaborative relationships across disciplines and with external health care organizations. Candidates who wish to be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor must meet all requirements for promotion to the Associate Professor rank at Towson University.
Responsibilities:Teaching load is 6 (3 credit) course units for the first year, and may be negotiated for the second year. Associate Professor position may expect a 7 course teaching load. The candidate will teach courses in health care delivery systems, health care management, health care law and ethics, and health care information and quality management. Other responsibilities include advisement, university, professional and community service/outreach.
Department of Health Science: The Health Care Management (HCMN) undergraduate program is one of nine degree/certificate programs in the interprofessional, team-oriented Department of Health Sciences. HCMN has 5 full-time faculty and over 325 undergraduate majors. The Department offers a Master of Science degree in Health Science with concentrations in Administration, Community Health and School Health Education.
