Position Title: Senior Accountant
General Statement of Duties:
Performs any combination of duties involving: routine calculating, posting, monitoring, reconciling, processing and verifying to obtain or record financial data for use in maintaining the University’s accounting records.
Bachelor degree in Accounting or Business.
At least five year’s work experience in an accounting, bookkeeping or related office setting. Higher education setting a must.
Duties and Responsibilities:*
Keys data and prepares batches for processing which involves sorting, alphabetizing, and running tapes to verify hash counts and totals.
Reconciles various expenditure reports to source documents; distributes and files financial documents and reports.
Prepares routine entries and posts financial transactions; reconciles entries and internal ledgers to financial reporting system reports.
Researches processing problems, contacts departments and vendors to resolve problems and expedite payment, and responds to inquiries by telephone or in writing; refers complex problems for solution.
Processes and pays various employee benefits.
Analyze ADP worksheets in order to prepare journal entry into the ERP.
Reconciles various general ledger accounts. Does adjusting entries and audit entries.
Maintains various spreadsheets to support ERP transactions.
Preforms entries for the payroll processor to record these transactions in the ERP.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT
Advance knowledge of Excel
Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
Basic data entry and/or word processing skills.
Knowledge of payroll policies and procedures.
Ability to sort, count, and verify numbers.
Knowledge of university accounting procedures involving procurement, travel, and/or employment.
Knowledge of university invoicing procedures.
Ability to perform simple accounting procedures.
Records maintenance skills.
Account balancing skills.
Ability to use personal computers, spreadsheets and word processing programs.
Ability to use an automated accounting system.
Ability to analyze and solve problems.
Within the general range of an office environment.
