The College of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Medical Center seeks applicants for an opening as Veterinary Customer Service Specialists with the Small Animal Call Center team. The position is full time (40 hours/week) on 1st shift, Monday – Friday. Holidays are required and are based on a team rotation. Holiday hours worked will be eligible for the University’s holiday premium pay benefit. Any evening hours will be eligible for a $1.75/hour shift differential and weekend hours will be eligible for a $2.25/hr shift differential. A background check is required prior to the start date. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to provide excellent front-line client services to support clients, customers, clinicians, and care-giving colleagues. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: answering and directing internal and external calls using a multiline call management system; scheduling appointments with applicable hospital services; providing clients with detailed appointment information; resolving routine problems and complex situations using appropriate medical terminology, office practices and procedures, and established customer service principles; following all hospital and university privacy standards; and all other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: Sitting/staring at computer screens for long periods of time, exposure to animal dander and/or zoonotic diseases.
Requires weekend, nights, and/or holiday hours.
Bachelor's degree in a Biological /Health Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge of medical communications and terminology.
Two years of experience in a customer services, healthcare or veterinary care environment; background in customer services, insurance verification and/or veterinary practice customer services; previous Call Center experience; ability to work in a self-directed manner while interacting with consumers, visitors, clinicians, technicians, and all other medical center faculty and staff; experience in analyzing and interpreting information; experience with electronic medical records systems and/or at least experience operating computers.
Target Salary: $15.00 - $17.52 Hourly
