This position is responsible for creating 3D design renderings and drawings as assigned for exhibit projects at the Harvard Museums of Science & Culture. At least three years of 3-D design experience; education beyond high school in exhibit design, 3-D design, interior design, architectural design, or a related field will count toward experience.
Knowledge of 3D design and demonstrable technical skills with design software including Vectorworks
3+ years of museum exhibit design experience, preferably in museums, trade shows, or similar institutions
BA/BS degree in exhibit design, 3-D design, interior design, architectural design, or related field.
Experience designing exhibits for museum collection objects and familiarity with the specific conditions required for those objects, a plus
Proven ability to create technical drawings and schematics required for exhibit fabrication
General knowledge of exhibit fabrication methods and varied materials used in the construction of exhibits, including sustainable options
Knowledge of other design software, including InDesign and SketchUp
Knowledge of lighting alternatives and lighting design, a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
High standards of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively and as a member of a team absolutely required, as is an ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
Ability to multitask and maintain positive, helpful attitude
Some scheduling flexibility is required. Candidates must be available to shift their schedule on occasion to accommodate workload
