Oversees the International Student Services Tier I unit within the International Student Advising Team to provide specific on-demand DSO services for IUB's 6,500 international students. Serve as a Senior International Student Advisor and DSO, interpreting complex U.S. immigration laws, regulations, policies and procedures as applied to individual international students at Indiana University. Actively participate in the development, maintenance, and growth of staff expertise in the laws and regulations governing international students and in promulgating IU policies and procedures that ensure ongoing compliance. Ensures that required information is reported to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in accordance with federal requirements and that required immigration documentation needed to maintain legal status is adjudicated accurately and efficiently. Serves as an immigration expert to other IU departments and as liaison with state and local government agencies on issues related to international students. Provides back-up to Associate Director for Student Services, supervises one advisor and 1 graduate assistant.
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree and five years of work experience in a complex customer services environment within a university setting.

US Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency is required, as mandated by federal regulations. Strong communication skills and exceptional attention to detail. Ability to work with limited supervision and juggle multiple complex tasks. Ability to work with a diverse population in a professional manner and use discretion in handling confidential information.
Work as a foreign student adviser. Master's degree in Higher Education or a related field. Personal or professional international experiences and familiarity with SIS, SEVIS, IU policies and the guidelines & regulations governing international students and scholars. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
