Reporting to the Assistant Registrar of Records and Registration, the Academic Services Assistant is a team member of the Records and Registration area which strives to provide exceptional customer service in all aspects of work. This position is responsible for data entry and administrative support in academic records maintenance for Arts and Sciences, and Engineering students at Johns Hopkins University. Primary duties for this position include, but are not limited to the creation, maintenance and integrity assurance of academic records. This position provides cross-functional support for undergraduate students, graduate students, part-time programs, and other diverse student populations.

Essential Job Functions:
The Academic Services Assistant will provide administrative support, including but not limited to student status changes, study abroad processing, transfer credit, grade changes, transcript updates, and other transactions within the Student Information System as needed. This position will assist with projects involving data entry and maintaining academic records, both paper and electronic. These responsibilities require close attention to detail and accuracy in all work.The Academic Services Assistant will assist with the annual Commencement activities and other cross-functional duties as assigned. Must be able to act independently in the absence of the Assistant Registrar.
Minimum of two years of successful office work experience involving contact with the public, preferably in higher education administration.
Experience in a fast-passed, high-volume setting is strongly preferred. Position requires excellent work habits and office skills.
High School Diploma/GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Special Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
Functional experience with Student Information Systems and Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint).
Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and all laws, rules, and regulations related to JHU policies is desired.
Functional experience with OnBase or other document imaging software is strongly preferred.
Ability to prioritize tasks with time-sensitive deadlines.
