Part-time teaching positions in Composition & Literature for Summer.
Examples of Duties:
Composition & Literature classes will be based upon academic content standards and benchmarks and may include a common read. Instructors are responsible for classroom management. Mandatory staff dates include teacher training, summer staff orientation and closing program.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or equivalent required by June 1, 2019. A minimum of (1) year teaching experience. A student-centered philosophy of learning and the ability to interact effectively with other instructors, Upward Bound staff members, students and parents required. Innovativeness; understanding of limited income, first generation college-bound students; knowledge of methods for motivating students; experience in working with culturally diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:
Teaching Certification; experience with high school students; experience with KSU freshman English/Composition and Literature curriculum; knowledge of basic computer skills and TRIO programs.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
Academic classes are offered mornings and afternoons, Monday through Friday. Classes start June 11, 2019 and continue through July 12, 2019. Class schedules will vary. Teaching staff will also be required to attend orientation and other preparatory meetings prior to June 11, 2019, and additional special program events and post-program evaluation.
This is a short term position and does not accumulate vacation time, and is contingent upon receipt of federal funds.
