The Advising and Career Development Center (ACDC) is seeking applicants for a Transfer Academic Advisor and Recruiter. The successful candidate will have a physical office location on the Main Campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Travels to all SKyCTC campuses, Hopkinsville CC, Volunteer State Community (TN) College, and other Kentucky Community and Technical Colleges as needed to recruit and assist students desiring to transfer to one of the WKU campuses
Frequently meets with and tracks students that are part of Joint Admission process
Participates in outreach and recruitment programs in the surrounding region
Adheres to the advising policies and initiatives of the University
Works with students, faculty, staff, and Academic Affairs and Enrollment & Student Experience departments to improve overall advising practice for transfer students
Assists in planning of advising activities for Topper Orientation Program (TOP) for transfer students
Provides a central point of contact for transfer students for advising and retention issues
Serves as a liaison between the Community College System, WKU Regional campuses, and the ACDC
Serves as a liaison between college advising faculty, staff, and the ACDC regarding transfer student advising issues
Knowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success:
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks
A commitment to providing exceptional student (customer) service
Skills in analyzing challenging situations and determining suitable solutions
Ability to learn data-based programs, and University management software such as BANNER, TOPNET, iCAP, WKU portal, etc.
Experience providing academic assistance at the collegiate level
Ability to travel daily
Salary Grade: 107 Salary Range: $29,858 - $35,000
